How to Send Money to Thailand

1. Transfer money between banks. If you're sending money to a person with a Thai bank account, you can transfer money from your bank account in the U.S. to his in Thailand. This method is best for infrequent transfers, since it costs between $25 and $50 per transfer depending on the country in which you live and the bank you use.
2. Get a debit card with the Plus or Cirrus logo. Since Plus and Cirrus are part of an international ATM network, as long as a person in Thailand has an ATM card, she can withdraw cash from your account. Transferring money this way is inconvenient if you need to send funds for an emergency since you would have to mail a card to the person before she could withdraw cash.
3. Open a bank account in Thailand. Having a Thai bank account is very convenient for you if you spend a lot of time in Thailand, own property there or have a work visa. Anyone who's a signatory on the account can write checks against the account and withdraw money.
4. Use an online payment center like PayPal or Revolution Money Exchange. All it takes is a few mouse clicks to transfer money anywhere in the world, including Thailand. Once you transfer money to someone's PayPal account, that person can then pay for products and services online, request a check from PayPal or transfer money to a bank account.
5. Wire money to Thailand via Western Union or another money-wiring service. The money will be available in Thailand within seconds.
