How to Apply for a PayPal Donation Account

1. Sign up for PayPal as a premier or business account if you don't already have one. These accounts can have donate buttons; individual accounts cannot. Premier accounts serve individuals who sell online, such as eBay or Etsy merchants. Business accounts work for businesses.
2. Enter your personal information for a Premier account, including address, phone number, date of birth and name. Choose a username and password to finish creating a PayPal Premier account.For a business account, provide business name and address, the business owner's name and address, customer service information and select the reason you need a PayPal account (such as email payments or payments for eBay transactions).
3. Sign into your newly created (or existing) Premier or Business account to create your donate button.
4. Navigate to the Donation Buttons page in PayPal (see Resources). This page allows you to create a donation button for your website (the only way to accept PayPal donations). Click on the 'Create your button now' link to begin creating the donation button.
5. Customize your button with smaller text, a different language (English is the default) or by omitting the types of credit cards you accept. You don't need to customize your button; the standard button is in English and displays credit card logos. Choose whether you want donors to enter their own donation amount or to have a preset donation amount (which you can set, for example, $10).
6. Click the Create Button link to finish creating your button in PayPal. This takes you to a page where you can receive the code for your button and instructions for pasting the donation button code into your website template.
7. Paste the donation button code into your website following the instructions.
