The Advantages of Using PayPal
Choose From Several Account Options
According to Paypal.com, one of the advantages to using PayPal includes the ability to set up accounts for your own personal use, an online business, or for a student. If you choose to set up a personal account, you can accept payments from other PayPal users and shop online anywhere PayPal and credit cards are accepted. In this case, payments received and payments sent are both free and are not affected by any additional PayPal fees since you are not accepting credit cards.
Send and Accept International Payments
Another advantage PayPal offers is the ability to send and receive international payments. Paypal.com says they accept payments in the form of twenty-three currencies, including Canadian dollars, British pounds, Euros, Swiss Francs, Mexican Pesos and Yen.International payments fall subject to currency conversion fees when money is sent or received and then converted into your preferred currency. Most of these fees begin at 3.9% for amounts up to one hundred thousand dollars, in addition to a nominal fee above that into whichever currency Paypal converted your payment. For example, if you received a payment for less than three thousand dollars from Mexico, paypal.com will charge you 3.9% plus four dollars in Mexican Pesos.
Accept Credit and Debit Cards
Paypal.com makes transacting online business payments easy by giving you the option of accepting debit and credit cards. By opting for a premiere or business account, you can accept all major debit and credit cards from buyers who may or may not already have a PayPal account. This is an advantage to you as a seller because you can accept payments from non-PayPal users who don't wish to sign up for their own account.Sending payments from a premiere or business account to any other online establishment is free, but any credit or debit card payments accepted will charge your account for a processing fee. The maximum fee for credit card payments starts at 3.9% plus an additional thirty cents and applies to payments under three thousand dollars. Additional payment brackets apply to higher payment quantities, where the percentage applied to the payment goes down.
Keep Track of All Transactions
Paypal.com allows you to keep tabs on every inbound and outbound transaction. Using their recent activity, history, payments received and payments sent tabs, you can download spreadsheet files detailing who sent or received the payment, the date of the transaction, the amount, the currency and the payment type. This makes it easy for you to find when you sent or received a payment and keep all your accounting in order. You can even specify to download over a years' worth of account information, if you choose.
