Becoming an Online Merchant With Credit Card Processing

1. Set up a business website. Do this by going through a hosting service. Some services specialize in setting up online stores.
2. Get a PayPal account. PayPal gives you quick and easy access to all of the major credit card companies and does not charge setup fees. PayPal has two types of accounts: Standard and Pro. Standard assesses no monthly fees, but your customers must go through PayPal for payment instead of going directly through your site. Pro allows you to take fees directly from customers on your site, but you must pay a $30 monthly fee, and you must submit to a credit check.
3. Place a PayPal link on your payment page. PayPal provides downloadable icons for you to place on your website yourself, but hosting services specifically for online stores fully integrate with PayPal anyway.
4. Connect your PayPal account to an exterior bank account. This allows you to withdraw your PayPal balance to a normal checking or savings account. After 60 days, you can also qualify to use a debit card that connects directly to your PayPal account, but you will probably have to pay any time you use this card to withdraw cash from an ATM.

How to Pay Bills With PayPal

1. Get a PayPal debit card. The card will allow you to use your PayPal balance just as a bank balance would be used through a bank debit card. The PayPal card can also be used like a credit card to pay bills online. The debit card is free to PayPal account holders.
2. Use your PayPal debit card like a credit card to pay bills online. Often utility bills, insurance bills and other smaller bills can be paid this way through the website of each company. Some companies also allow a card to be kept on file and the amount withdrawn from it each month automatically. For bills that don't have websites, you may be able to pay the bills in person with your debit card just as you would with a credit card.
3. Make sure you have a PayPal balance that covers the amount of the bill before you attempt to pay it. If you don't have enough in the account, you can still pay the bill by setting up a backup funding source in your PayPal account. It can take a few days to verify a bank account if the account isn't already on file with PayPal. Once you have backup funding, the extra amount beyond your PayPal balance comes from your bank account.

How to Use Ebay Buyer Protection

1. Attempt to contact the seller by email and then through phone contact if needed. After these attempts have been exhausted and you are confident that the seller is not going to offer a replacement or refund, proceed through the eBay buyer protection process.
2. Go through the eBay Dispute Console and file a complaint describing the nature of the problem with the transaction. File the complaint at least 10 days after the transaction date and less than 60 days after the transaction date in order to be eligible for protection. These dates are in effect no matter when the item arrives. Sellers who are trying to get out of the seller protection system may put buyers off for long enough that the 60 days elapses and the item is no longer eligible.
3. Allow eBay to contact your seller. Read the response, if any, from the seller, which can include a message that the item has been sent, the payment was not received, a refund is being given or a replacement will be sent. You may receive more personalized communications in some instances with a choice of options to remedy the situation. If the seller doesn't want to choose from between the narrow band of options that are offered by eBay, he can send you a personal communication through the system, or through email, that offers you other options.
4. Close the dispute with the seller because the matter has been resolved or report the seller to eBay's Trust and Safety team because either the seller will not respond or will not respond to your satisfaction. Wait 30 days after the transaction before reporting the seller to the Trust and Safety team, who will better facilitate the transaction, which can include giving a refund or other taking actions against the seller.
