How to Pay With PayPal Buyer Credit

1. Choose a retail website that accepts PayPal. If you are uncertain whether a site accepts PayPal, check the site's Help page. For instance, Walmart and eBay list PayPal as one of their accepted payment methods on their Help pages.
2. Pick the items you wish to purchase and proceed to checkout. Enter your name, contact information and shipping details in the appropriate fields, and select PayPal as your payment method. The page will change to a PayPal page.
3. Enter your user name and password to log in to your PayPal account. Once you are logged in, your PayPal credit balance will be displayed as an option for payment. Follow the directions to confirm it as your payment source and complete the transaction. The system will automatically deduct the amount from your credit balance and send you a message by email to confirm your transaction.

How to Use a PayPal Account

1. Register for a PayPal account. You'll need to enter credit card or bank account information, depending on the payment source you want to use. When you make a purchase, money will be transferred from this account to PayPal to pay the merchant. The merchant never sees your bank account or credit card information.
2. Log onto PayPal to pay for an item with another account holder's email address. If you purchase a widget from WidgetOwner@sample.com, for example, and he uses that email address as his PayPal account ID, all you need to do is type that in the seller box. Most merchants who have a PayPal account linked to their websites will have purchase information automatically transferred to the PayPal screen, so you won't need to type anything in manually.
3. Use PayPal when you win an eBay auction. Since eBay owns PayPal, it's the payment method of choice for the online auctioneers. Click on the PayPal pay link after you've won and follow the instructions. A window will appear asking for PayPal login information. Fill in your user name and password and you'll be transferred to the PayPal home page.
4. Set up a merchant or seller account the same way you set up a buyer account. PayPal charges a small fee for every payment sent to a seller account.
5. Protect your PayPal account and bank account security by checking your browser window for the secured PayPal site (https instead of http), and looking for the 'lock' symbol in the corner of your computer screen before you make a purchase on the PayPal site.

How to Cash a Check From PayPal

Getting the Check from PayPal
1. Click on the 'My Account' tab on your PayPal interface and click the 'Withdraw' button. This button takes you to the section of the site where you can get money that is currently in your account and transfer it to your regular bank account. It is also where you can request a check or get cash from an ATM.
2. Click 'Request a check from PayPal' and go through to the next page. You will be warned that PayPal will charge a $1.50 check writing fee to your funds--so whatever you withdraw, it will actually be $1.50 less.
3. Pick which address you want the check to be sent to. Add the amount of money you want to withdraw and then click 'Continue.' You will be transferred to a verification page where, with one more click, you will submit the request.
Cashing the Check from PayPal
4. Expect the check in five to 10 days, per PayPal guidelines. Once the check arrives, take the check to the bank that you have an account with.
5. Endorse the back of the check. Write the account number of your checking account on the check so that the bank knows which member is trying to cash the check. This is the bank's added step for security.
6. Hand the check over to the bank teller. Put your hand out as the teller counts out the amount of money written on the check.
