How to Sell a Domain Name Using PayPal
1. Create a PayPal account using an email address and a password. Apply for a PayPal Merchant Services account by selecting the 'Business' tab at the top of page. Unlike a personal PayPal account, a PayPal business account allows you to receive payments.
2. Link your checking account to your PayPal account. Have a blank check ready so you can input the bank routing and account numbers found at the bottom of the check. PayPal requires your bank account information to activate your PayPal account.
3. Go to eBay's website through your PayPal account. From the 'Business' tab, place the cursor on 'Products & Services' and scroll down and click on the 'Sell on eBay' link. Click on the orange 'Sell on eBay' button, which launches you to the eBay website.
4. Register to become an eBay member. Enter your personal details and create an eBay user id. Choose a password and pick a secret question. Accept the User Agreement and Privacy Policy statements. EBay sends you an email confirmation, which is the final step in the account activation process.
5. Type 'domain names' under the search category on eBay. Create a descriptive title for your domain name such as 'high-end domain name available for sale.' Under section 4, 'Describe the item you're selling,' select the type. Because the category is domain name, eBay provides two choices under Type: Domain Name and Premium Domain Name. EBay also allows you to create your own. Select the Domain Extension (for example, .com, .biz or .org). Finally choose a service area from the drop-down menu. Provide a description of your domain name.
6. Set an auction price for your domain name and the number of days for the auction. Make sure there is a check in the box next to 'Accept Payment with PayPal' under the section entitled, 'Decide how you'd like to be paid.' Check to make sure the email address you use with PayPal appears.
