About Using a PayPal Account to Pay Bills

Send Money
Anyone with a PayPal account can send money to anyone else with a PayPal account, The only thing needed is the recipient's email address. If a person owes someone else money for something such as providing baby-sitter services, the money is transferred by entering only an email address.
Online Purchases
Most online stores accept PayPal as a payment method. By using PayPal, the only party receiving the buyer's credit information is PayPal. This eliminates a lot of potential credit issues and helps increase confidentiality for the buyer. When shopping online, a person chooses PayPal as her payment choice and all that is needed is her email address to confirm payment.
Debit and Credit Cards
PayPal issues debit cards to holders of premier, business and student accounts. This debit card can pay for grocery bills, pay for gas at the pump, or can be used anywhere where credit or debit cards are accepted. The money is withdrawn from the PayPal account. It eliminates the need to transfer money into a bank account and then use a bank account credit or debit card for a transaction. PayPal also issues credit cards. They are used as standard credit cards are, and PayPal account holders must apply for the card and be approved. PayPal credit cards are issued only to PayPal account holders who meet the credit worthiness criteria.
Other Uses of Debit Cards
Any bill that is payable with a credit card can be paid with a PayPal debit card. The debit card number is written on remittance forms for bills such as utilities. The debit card can pay for doctor and dentist bills; present the card to the billing receptionist. The debit card number can also be provided verbally to pay bills over the phone.
Automatic Payment for Bills
Many people choose to have their bills paid automatically each month by setting up automatic withdrawal payment schedules with their creditors. This is common for utilities such as gas, electric, phone and cable services. This is done by setting up a PayPal credit or debit card automatic payment with creditors.
