How to Buy Movie Tickets With a PayPal Account

Fund PayPal Account
PayPal accounts must be funded prior to making a movie ticket purchase. PayPal accounts may be funded in several ways. Some merchants who sell online receive payments through PayPal, as do some people who work online. Those who do not receive payments via PayPal can fund their account through a deposit from their primary bank account.
Apply for PayPal Debit Card
Although a PayPal account will allow users to purchase items and services at many online merchants, movie tickets cannot be purchased with only a traditional PayPal account. Apply for a PayPal debit card at its website (see Resources). This debit card allows users to make purchases anywhere that MasterCard and Visa are accepted and will draw funds directly from the PayPal account to which it is linked.
Enter PayPal Card Information
Visit a website on the Internet that allows for purchase of advance movie tickets online using a PayPal debit card, such as Fandango and MovieTickets.com. Select the movie tickets desired, choose 'Credit or Debit Card' for method of purchase and enter the PayPal debit card information.

How Do Paypal Payments Work?

PayPal Basics
PayPal is one of the world's most popular online payment methods, with more than 100 million accounts. Through PayPal, any individual or business with an email address can transfer money online. PayPal can be used to make monetary donations, purchase goods or services through online merchants, or to pay for items won on auction sites such as eBay.
Infrastructure
Transferring money via PayPal provides additional security because PayPal acts as the middleman between the sender and the recipient. Bank account or credit card information is provided directly to PayPal, rather than exchanged between a buyer and seller. All payments are made through PayPal's encrypted software to ensure an added layer of security. PayPal handles all interchange fees charged by banks and credit card companies when payments are sent, and makes the money back by deducting a small amount from money that it transfers into recipients' accounts.
Account Requirements
To use PayPal, a user must first set up a free account at www.PayPal.com. The user must enter a name, address, email address and phone number, then provide a login name, password, and the answers for two security questions. Adding credit card or bank account information is optional, but necessary if the user wants to make online purchases or transfer monies received into a checking or savings account. After signing up, the user will receive an email confirmation that outlines terms of use and explains the account verification process.
Sending and Receiving Funds
To send funds with PayPal, the user may log in to his account and click 'Send Funds.' PayPal will request the email address of the person receiving the money, and send a notification to the recipient that she has received a payment. If the recipient has a PayPal account, the money will be automatically deposited in the account; if not, the recipient will be prompted to open a PayPal account to access the funds.
Making Online Purchases
To pay online for goods or services via PayPal, the buyer must click on the payment option that reads 'Pay online securely with PayPal' or other similar wording. The buyer will then be directed to a PayPal login page. After logging in, the buyer will confirm the payment amount, shipping address and other information relevant to the purchase. The funds are automatically deducted from the buyer's bank account or charged to his credit card, depending on the previously selected payment options. An email will be sent by PayPal to both the buyer and seller to confirm the transaction details.

How to Cancel a PayPal Account

1. Log into your account with your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password it can be retrieved and sent to the email account you used to open your PayPal account.
If you have forgotten which email address you used, go to the PayPal homepage and click on 'forgot email address.' When you signed up for the account you gave PayPal pertinent information about you, your address and your bank account. If you answer these questions correctly you will be supplied with your PayPal account email address.
2. Pay outstanding debt. See if you have any outstanding payments that have not been made by you that are owed to another person. All outstanding debt must be paid before you can close your PayPal account. If there is a transaction in dispute, it must be resolved or PayPal will not close your account.
3. Receive all payments. Go through your records and search for payments that may still be due to you.
If you have a balance when you close the account, PayPal will mail it to you or transfer it to your bank account. You cannot transfer funds to a credit card, however.
4. Understand that when you close your PayPal account it may never be reopened in that name again. You may still open a new account if the name needs to be changed for some reason.
5. Click on 'My Account' and then on 'Profile.' Then select 'Account Information' and 'Close Account.' Before the account can be closed you will be asked to confirm that you are the owner of the account through one or more questions, the first being your bank account number under which you opened the account.
