How to Make Automatic Payments With PayPal

1. Set up a regular payment. This can be done on many sites with a PayPal button that takes you directly to your PayPal account.
2. Use your PayPal debit card as a credit card to set up automatic payments if the site doesn't interface with PayPal directly. The card numbers are entered just as you would a credit card number.
3. Have a funding source for your PayPal card. If you have a regular balance in your PayPal account, that can be used to pay for your automatic payments. If the balance will not be there every month to cover the payment, set up a backup funding source.
4. Verify your backup funding source. This can be the bank account that was used to set up the PayPal account, or it can be a credit or debit card. Make sure your preferred funding source will be the one that is used for the automatic payments. Whichever source you use, make sure it will have enough funds to cover the regular payment.
5. Sign the automatic payments agreement through PayPal by checking the 'Agree' box. This will authorize the payment to be deducted regularly. When the confirmation email comes from PayPal, check over the information and make sure that the backup funding source and the payment amount are correct.

PayPal Safety

Phishing
Fake e-mail is one way thieves try to get personal information.
Phishing is the art of creating a fake e-mail that resembles a legitimate message sent by a bank or other entity. If you click on a link in this type of e-mail, it can give a thief access to personal information or your PayPal password. As a rule PayPal will not send an e-mail message that asks for your full name, Social Security number, passwords, driver's license information or bank account, credit or debit card numbers. If suspicious of a PayPal e-mail message, do not click on any links.
Update Browser
If you are using an old version of your Web browser, it is a good idea to upgrade it to the newest version your computer supports. Today's Web browsers have anti-phishing features that can protect your computer from going to the malicious Web sites that false e-mails may try to send you to.
Protective Software
Your computer should have recent versions of anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall software to block thieves and malware from getting into your computer system. Viruses can come in a variety of forms from e-mail to file downloads and these protective programs identify and delete them efficiently. These programs must be updated as often as possible, which is simple matter if you turn on their automatic-update features.
Passwords
Your PayPal password should be a strong one. You should have a different one for each account and not share them with anyone. When choosing a password, mix upper- and lower-case letters, use symbols and numbers. If possible, avoid words that are in a dictionary or are commonly known.
Prevention
Preventing problems with PayPal takes vigilance and common sense. Monitoring your account for strange activity, changing passwords often, keeping your computer protected and checking e-mails carefully will make your shopping experience a safer one.

What Is Auto

PayPal
PayPal allows money to be transferred from person-to-person or business-to-business, without the need for money orders or checks. Anyone who has an email address can send or receive online payments securely. The payments will need to be funded by a credit card or bank account, and a user can also maintain a cash balance in a PayPal account. PayPal does not charge users to join the service, but it imposes fees when users receive money into their PayPal account from others. For example, a person buys an item on eBay and pays the seller via PayPal. PayPal will take a small percentage of the proceeds from the sale before depositing the funds in the seller's account.
Auto Sweep
PayPal offers an auto sweep function to users who have qualified for a premier or business account. The basic personal accounts are not eligible for auto sweep. Once enabled, this feature performs periodic automatic transfers of any money in the PayPal account to a checking account designated by the account holder. Users who do a high volume of transactions will not need to log into their PayPal account and manually transfer funds. Additionally, PayPal may freeze a user's account if a buyer disputes a purchase, and the auto sweep feature makes sure a minimum of funds are tied up in a frozen account.
Starting Auto Sweep
The auto sweep feature is not disclosed on the website, and the only way to enable the feature is to call PayPal and request it. Users may log into their account and click on the 'Contact Us' link. Then select 'Call Us' and ask the PayPal representative to enable auto sweep on the account. If the account is eligible, the representative will enable the feature.
Disabling Auto Sweep
Once the auto sweep feature is enabled, users can disable it from the 'Edit Profile' screen. PayPal may temporarily disable the auto sweep feature if an electronic transfer is initiated from your bank account into the PayPal account (to prevent the money from immediately being 'swept' back to the bank account). Additionally, the auto sweep will be cancelled for a specific day if another money transfer is pending, and the transfer will be reversed to prevent a negative PayPal account balance.
