Do I Need to Link My Bank Account for PayPal?

The Facts
Although linking your bank account to PayPal increases user options, it is not an account requirement. Instead, you can use your account to accept money from other PayPal users or you can add funds on your own using a MoneyPack prepaid card. If you choose the MoneyPack option, verifying your personal information by providing MoneyPack with your name, address, date of birth and Social Security number increases the amount you can add to your PayPal account from $250 per year to up to $2,000 per month. To withdraw funds, you can use your account to pay for online purchases that accept PayPal or send money electronically to anyone with an email address and PayPal account.
Bank Option
If you choose to link your bank account, you have the additional option of transferring money, at no additional charge, to and from your bank and PayPal account. In addition, you can make online purchases using your PayPal account even if you a zero balance. In this case, PayPal will automatically transfer funds to cover your purchase using your bank account funds.
Process
You can link up to eight checking or savings accounts to PayPal via the profile section of your PayPal account. PayPal will need the account and routing numbers of each account. Once you add this information, PayPal verifies and completes the process of linking the account. You also have the option to remove a bank account at any time by selecting the appropriate account and selecting the remove option. If you have more than one PayPal account, keep in mind that you can only link a bank account to one PayPal account at a time.

Whether you link your bank account or not, it is important to understand that under certain circumstances, PayPal does share your personal information with third parties. According to its privacy policy, PayPal does not sell or rent your personal information to any third-party companies for marketing purposes. However, it does share your information with eBay and eBay subsidiaries, fraud prevention contractors, PayPal credit card marketers, credit bureaus, any companies that merge with PayPal or that PayPal purchases and law enforcement agencies. Can a PayPal Account Be Linked to More Than One eBay Account?

Linking Accounts
Linking accounts is done on the eBay website in the 'My eBay' user account section. On the 'Account' tab of the 'My eBay' page, users can click the 'PayPal Account' link to access their PayPal information. If no PayPal account is linked to the eBay account, clicking the 'Link My PayPal Account' button allows the user to log in to his PayPal account. Once login is complete he simply has to verify that he wants to link the accounts to complete the link.
Multiple eBay Accounts
eBay guidelines allow users to have multiple eBay accounts so long as the accounts aren't used to violate eBay rules. This allows sellers who have an eBay store to have a personal account as well, and lets eBay users who wish to use different accounts for different purposes do so. Each account must have a distinct email address associated with it. The accounts cannot interact by bidding on each other's auctions or otherwise being used to inflate auction prices or mislead customers.
Multiple PayPal Addresses
PayPal accounts can have up to eight email addresses associated with them, though personal and premier accounts may only have one user associated with the account. New addresses can be added to a PayPal account by clicking the 'Profile' link under the 'My Account' tab visible after the user signs in to his account. Clicking the 'Add' button in the 'Email' portion of the profile or personal info page lets users add another address; a confirmation email will be sent to the address when the new email information is saved.
Linking to Multiple Accounts
Linking additional eBay accounts to a PayPal account is done in the same manner as adding a single account. Up to eight user IDs can be added to a single account. If multiple email addresses have already been added to the PayPal account, these addresses should be used when creating new eBay accounts to ensure that the user doesn't run out of available links. If older eBay accounts need to be removed to add new user IDs, they can be removed from the PayPal account in the 'Auctions' or 'My Seller Tools' portion of the PayPal user's 'Profile' page.
