Is a PayPal Transaction Insured?

Funds that PayPal touches as they pass through a PayPal transaction are held in a bank. Therefore, PayPal funds are covered under Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance that also applies to a traditional bank account, except for PayPal's interest-bearing, money market accounts.
Types
For transactions between users, PayPal offers protection for both the seller and buyer, according to PayPal's user agreement.
Protection for Sellers
PayPal offers to refund money to sellers when the buyer claims that he did not receive the item or the person who made payment had no authorization to use the PayPal account. In order to get this protection, the seller will need documentation to prove that he sent the item and verification of the buyer's info.
Protection for Buyers
Buyers who want refunds can only get one if they did not receive the item or received a damaged product. However, PayPal only offers this protection to eBay users as of 2010.
Tips
Buyers can tell if PayPal insures their transactions on eBay by looking for the buyer protection symbol. Also, any user who feels her transaction was fraudulent should contact PayPal as soon as possible.

How to Sell Items With PayPal


1. Define your sales process and inventory. The process you will be going through can change according to your needs; if you are selling a few items by online auction sites (like eBay) then some of these steps may not be needed. But if you are trying to incorporate PayPal into your business website for easy customer checkouts, you should be sure to do as much as possible.
2. Sign up for an account at PayPal.com. Create a merchant account at the least, as this will give you access to special services to simplify the sales process.
3. Log in to your PayPal account and click 'Merchant Services.' Select 'Buy Now Button' to be taken to the PayPal payment button creation page. Plug in the information for your item(s) and the settings for your button; you can customize the appearance and text for the button or import an image of your own.
4. Save your button at PayPal and select advanced customization options if necessary. Get the code for your button after you have finished making changes. There will be separate codes for both email and web use, you can take both of these or choose which one works best for you.
5. Place the code into your website or on social networking profiles or wherever else you may be selling your products, except for eBay or similar online auction sites which automatically provide you with PayPal options.

How to Use PayPal With an ING Direct Account


1. Add ING Direct account information to your PayPal profile. Once you login to your PayPal account, click the “Profile” link. This will take you to a page where you can access your bank accounts. From the bank accounts page, you will need to click the “Add” link. You will then be taken to a page that will allow you to enter your ING Direct account information. Under the Bank Account Name field enter ING Direct. You will then select that it is a savings account. Finally, you will be asked to enter your ING Direct routing and account number. After clicking continue, your ING Direct account will be added to your PayPal account.
2. Confirm your ING Direct account on PayPal. Once a bank account has been added to your PayPal account, PayPal will make two small deposits to that account. You will need to confirm these deposit amounts before you can use your ING Direct account with PayPal.
3. Withdraw funds to your ING Direct account. To send funds to your ING Direct account, click the “Withdraw” link on the front page of your PayPal account. Then select the “Transfer to Bank Account” link. You will enter the amount to be sent to your account and select your ING Direct account. Once you click “Continue” you will be asked to confirm the amount to be sent.
4. Remove money from your ING Direct account as necessary. To add money to your PayPal account from your ING Direct account, click the “Add Funds” link from the front page of your PayPal account. Then select “Transfer Funds From a Bank Account in the United States” link. Select your ING Direct account from the list and enter the amount your wish to add. Then click continue to confirm the addition of funds.
5. Use your account as a backup funding source on PayPal. If you want to have instant access to your ING Direct account, go to the profile section of your PayPal account and click the “PayPal Debit Card” link. At the bottom of the PayPal Debit Card page you will see a link that says “Add Backup Funding”. Click this link and choose your ING Direct account.

How to Transfer Money from PayPal to your Bank


1. Log into your PayPal account: Logg into your PayPal account, click, "Profile." You will get a drop down screen, click on "Add or Edit Bank Account. Once you have clicked "Profile" you will get a drop down screen, click on "Add or Edit Bank Account.
2. Add a bank account: Enter the information of the bank, you want PayPal to transfer money to. Enter your bank's routing number and your account number. Next, enter your bank' s name and submit. It will take a few days for your banking institution to approve your account for receiving from PayPal.
3. Make a money transfer from your PayPal account: Log into your account, click "Withdraw." A drop down screen will give you options, click, "Transfer to Bank Account." Enter the amount of money you want to transfer from your PayPal account to your bank account and click, "Continue" and then, "confirm." It will take 3-4 business day for the money transfer to hit you bank account.

How to Generate a Card Number Through PayPal


1. Visit the 'Profile' section of your PayPal account. Here you will find a link for the PayPal plug-in. The PayPal plug-in is what allows you to generate a virtual card number for various sites. If you don't already have a PayPal account, sign up for one.
2. Go to the PayPal plug-in section of the site. At the PayPal plug-in section of the site, you will see a menu that lists the different actions you can make through the website. These actions aren't as detailed as the PayPal plug-in software, but the online version still allows you to generate a card number.
3. Click the 'Secure Cards' link. You will see a box that lists cards that have been generated and two buttons that read 'Close Card' and 'Generate New Card'. You will also see a drop-down menu that displays active and closed cards.
4. Select the 'Generate New Card' button. This will begin the process.
5. Choose the card type. If you're shopping at a site you've never shopped at before, you may want to generate a single-use card. This ensures that the card number cannot be used again should the information be stolen. On the other hand, a multiple-use card would be perfect for sites that you shop at frequently. Once you select the card type, PayPal will generate a card number along with the expiration date and security code.

How to Add a Comment to PayPal Donations


1. Open a Web browser and type in the web address of the page that contains the donation link.
2. Click on the yellow PayPal button that says 'Make a Donation.' You will be taken to the secure transaction page where you can make your payment.
3. Type the donation amount in the box under 'Unit Price.' After that, type in your PayPal email address and password into the log in boxes to continue with the donation.
4. Review your order to make sure everything is correct. Click on the link under the donation amount box that reads 'Add special instructions to merchant.'
